I know y'all are likely to hate on Kelly Clarkson, but I've been fascinated by her overblown battle with Clive Davis. As someone who thinks "Since U Been Gone" is excellent pop fodder and the rest of that album was shit, I was surprised that I found My December to be a much more enjoyable listen.
Of course, the story is that Clive Davis, the head of J Records and Kelly's boss, thought it was shit and very publicly told her so. Now, he may have the right to tell an artist their album sucks, he can refuse to release the record, or get them back in the studio to record more songs, but to be such a public dick about the who thing was wrong on his part. Honestly, he sold out his artist out. Kelly should have left the label after they refused to really support the record and embarassed her the way they did. I'm sure that any other label would give her a ton of support and love to have her on their rooster.
Anyway, after one measly attempt to prove herself to be more than a puppet, she caved in to Clive, proving herself to be nothing more than just that, a fucking puppet. Shame. She should have grown some balls.
Her cancelled tour has been rescheduled. Tickets to the three announced shows go on sale Saturday, August 25th, at 10am.........
KELLY CLARKSON TOUR DATES
October 10th Verona, NY Turning Stone Casino

Record execs like Clive are of a dying breed and the few of them that are left are feeling so squeezed in by the pressure of a rapidly evolving industry that they are bursting at the seams. I get the impression that Clive took out his frustrations in a very immature and unprofessional manner on one of the few artists on sony/bmg's roster that actually makes a profit on album sales.
This should have been handled internally and in-house rather than publically using his rep to sabotage one of his artists.
