STAGECOACH | Festival News, BBQ Competition, Offensive T-Shirts, Willie & Lucinda

This weekend is the first annual Stagecoach Fesitval. The country music festival, taking place a week after Coachella at the same venue, will end up attracting around 30,000 people, which should be enough to ensure that it happens again next year. Here's some other news from the site:

  • Stagecoach is hosting a BBQ Competition with teams from all over the West competing for $10,000 in cash and prizes. Teams are judged by tri-tip, chicken, barbecued brisket, pork butts and ribs. They so need to bring that to Coachella next year.....

  • From the Desert Sun's Stagecoach blog: "Other signs we're not at Coachella any more: The t-shirts are certainly different at this festival. I don't know if I'm allowed to write this, but two on prominent display at a vendor booth said: "Titties and beer, thank God I ain't queer" and "Uncle Sam wants you to speak English" I'm not endorsing this stuff, I'm just reporting what I see.".......
  • Alan Jackson is to Stagecoach what Bjork was to Coachella. But it was the one-two combo punch of Lucinda Williams into Willie Nelson that got the cowboys hopping. Willie played about 30 minutes longer than his alloted hour of stage time, but who would have the balls to stop him.....
  • Poor Neko Case. She played to a tiny crowd as her set on the Palomino Stage (AKA The Outdoor Stage) was at the same time as headliner George Strait's Mane Stage (AKA Main Stage) appearance......
  • Celebrities sighted: Johnny Knoxville. That's it.......

    Telex:

Why is "uncle sam wants you to speak english" offensive? Seriously, can you explain that to me, I'm always interested in how the mind of the overly politically correct person functions.

That's that a quote from the Desert Sun. And Telex, would you wear that t-shirt around town and not feel like a douchebag?

    telex:

I understand it is a quote from the Desert sun, however, your post headline reads "offensive t-shirts." You're right, I would feel like a douchebag wearing a shirt like that around town, but not because the sentiment is offensive, more so because it's white-trashy.

    halified:

telex you need to take a course in how-not-to-be a douche. you're such a douche. im not even going to break down why. you're just a douche.

    Telex:

Ha, I appreciate the constructive criticism Halified. Well articulated.
